Happy 2018 — A Year of EXPANSION!

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters wherever You would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander.” — Hillsong United

Dear Family & Friends,

Our family (minus the pup!) will be traveling to Sevilla, Columbia this April to participate in a short-term mission trip with Compassion International. We sponsor two young children through Compassion, and are thrilled to personally visit and serve their families and communities. We will experience both the realities of extreme poverty and the promise of a better future. Poverty is not a supply issue, it’s a distribution issue, and we feel compelled to share our time and resources with those in need, locally and globally. “Every child deserves an equal chance of survival. Every child needs to be protected, nurtured, trained, and provided for. The welfare of the earth’s children is our post. We need to be strategic in our pursuit of justice for them.” — Lisa Bevere

Our April Peoria Columbia Team will train and prepare together during the next few months. While in Columbia April 4-9, 2018, we will do home visits, attend and support local churches, attend children’s educational classes, participate in recreational activities with the kids, and spend one-on-one time with the children and families we sponsor. “May none of us be content with the safety of our children alone, but instead grow in the understanding and awareness that all the children of this earth are our charge. May we be careful to move all out of harm’s way. Together we can be strategic. — Lisa Bevere

“I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!” — 2 Corinthians 6:11-13, The Message

We would love for you to be a part of our team, prayerfully and financially. Together we can make a difference! Please pray for us to be strengthened physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and to energetically serve in love, peace, and unity. May we be an encouragement to every person we meet, and may our lives, perspectives, and purposes be changed forever.

❦ Please cover us in prayer now until returning April 9, 2018 (SO appreciated!)

❦ All financial contributions are 100% tax-deductible and 100% goes toward our family and trip: Wiest Family April Peoria Columbia Mission Trip.

“Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, ‘I have COMPASSION on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.’” — Matthew 15:32 NKJV

Thank you for supporting us in this call of EXPANSION! May we all continue to LOVE, SERVE, and INSPIRE locally and globally through our thoughts, words, and actions!

May you be blessed beyond measure!

Gratefully,

Jon, Heather, Madeline, Mackenzie, & Gardenia 🐶

“The journey of a year is drawing to a close. Cherish the moments, all of them, even the ups and downs. Honor the lessons you’ve learned, and the people who helped you learn them. Honor the journey your soul mapped out for you. Trust all the places you’ve been. Make a scrapbook in your heart to help you remember. Look back for a moment. Reflect in peace. Then let this year draw to a close. All parts of the journey are sacred and holy. You’ve learned that lesson by now. Take time to honor this ending though it’s never really the end. Go to sleep tonight. When you wake up tomorrow a new adventure will begin. Remember the words you were told when this last adventure began, the words whispered quietly to your heart: Let the journey unfold. Let it be magical. The way has been prepared. People will be expecting…

Release🎈

Today I release my grip on ______________. I am freed from all concerns about the past and the future. My life is unfolding according to a perfect plan. ❤️

This week’s theme is simply the word RELEASE. What comes to mind when you hear the word RELEASE? You may feel a sensation of opening, of letting go, of freedom. Releasing has the power to free you from anything in life that may be bothering you, or weighing you down. You may be gripping onto a stressful situation or relationship, a strong emotion or desire, an unhealthy temptation or personal struggle, an unfulfilled expectation, a difficult loss, or even a big life-changing decision. It’s time to fully let go and release your grip. From deep within the sweet space inside you, a voice can be heard. Its loving words echo in your mind — trust in the natural flow of life, all your needs are taken care of. You are freed from all concerns about the past and the future. Your life is unfolding according to a perfect plan. Receive…

Rules To Relationships ♡

Make all your moments matter by living meaningfully in this present moment. ❤︎

Jennifer Pastiloff, L.A. area yoga teacher and motivational speaker, wrote a blog entitled 10 Rules for Daily Living. She challenged her readers to think about their personal rules for daily life. Here is one of her favorite responses from a 14-year-old:

Don’t take things too seriously.
Make fun of yourself (but not too much!)
Sleep in sometimes.
ALWAYS have a dog.
Be nice to everybody because you never know who is going to be your next best friend.
Just don’t wear shoes sometimes.
Go on a trip somewhere at least every year.
Don’t look in the mirror too much!
Don’t spend too much money on one thing.
Sometimes it’s OK to just not want to talk to people.

We can gain wisdom from listening to youth! As we mature, our aim is to move from rules to relationships. Loving and trusting relationships filled with open and healthy…

Simplify ❤︎

“Our life is frittered away by detail — simplify, simplify.” ~Henry Thoreau

Today we practice SIMPLIFYING — looking at our daily life, our priorities, possessions, activities, commitments, habits, thoughts and actions — and taking the time to reevaluate, gracefully letting go of what no longer serves us and establishing new intentions. When we simplify, we release unwanted expectations and stress and open up to increased freedom, joy, and inner peace. As Steve Maraboli states, “The greatest step towards a life of simplicity is to learn to let go.” What, where and how can you simplify? What would make your life lighter and easier? What can you get rid of? Where can you make adjustments to allow for more breathing room?

Take a minute to personally reflect.

Here are 3 practical tips to help prioritize and simplify:

Look for soul stops. Even on your busiest days, set aside several 5 minute breaks to pause, tune-in, pray, and meditate. This helps redirect thoughts…
